MHFA

Two Youth Mental Health First Aid training sessions were held during August 2015; one in Hastings at Southwester Community Centre and the other in Eastbourne at Towner Centre. The two day courses are evidence-based training run by approved MHFA England approved trainers.

Advertising through ESCC networks and youth networks across the country, the course was aimed at adults who support young people. There was a diversity of organisations represented at the training including Autism Sussex, Tomorrow’s People, Prices Trust, YMCA Sussex Coast College and Culture Shift. The training sessions were well attended and 100% reported increased confidence of how best to support a young person with a mental health problem and reporting increased knowledge and understanding of how best to support a young person with a mental health problem.

“I found this course very beneficial. In my opinion it is better and more in depth than the Twilight training offered by Sussex Partnerships. This is without doubt the best course I have been on that deals with mental health and young people. I have two children who have mental health issues and the course provided lots of up-to-date information and resources”. (Hastings MHFA attendee)
