Comfort Zone

Tuesday 5th August, 2014

Bringing people together in different ways is, for me, the nub of The Pantry Project: a diversity of young people working alongside artists finding a common language across different disciplines; care staff and chefs finding imaginative solutions to entice reluctant eaters. It's a very equal environment because everyone is learning and everyone is out of their comfort zone in some way, safely!

At some level, I think it has an element of survival experience about it for us all and being out of the usual set of behavioural expectations means that new ways of being can be discovered. Like the young people who come on the breaks, I find myself eating food I would ordinarily avoid, and developing an exuberance and lack of self consciousness that feels good.
